Chapter 655: Using the Revenge
Chapter 655: Using the Revenge
“Hang on,” Emma said as she thought of something before asking, “Doesn’t that mean that a Janari could steal a person's DNA to birth their child without their knowledge or permission?”
“Thankfully, it doesn’t work like that,” Revi said in a relieved tone, causing everyone but Elemence to look at her suspiciously.
“Why do you seem so relieved about that?” Rowena asked in a suspicious tone.
“What? Do I?” Revi asked in an innocent tone while not looking at any of them in surprise.
“Narven isn’t the only suitor that Revi has, though he’s by far the worst,” Elemence stated, causing Revi to glare at her.
“What?” Elemence asked before adding, “They were bound to find out sooner or later, especially when she lives here on Fenix Nest.”
“Fine,” Revi said with a sigh before saying, “One of my suitors is an old friend of Elemence and mine called Tevura Kelas. She’s one of the few non-Phoenixes allowed to live on Fenix Nest and she’s a Janari.
Unlike Narven, however, Tevura only wants my DNA in order to birth our child.”
“Congrats on becoming a mum, Revi,” Tephe said with a teasing smirk.
“I’m not,” Revi snapped back before shooting a glance at Adam and adding, “At least not yet.”
Emma shot Adam a quick glance before looking away and asking, “What did you mean when you said it doesn’t work that way?”
“A Janari can’t just shake your hand to get your DNA, like what you're imagining; the extraction process of the father's DNA takes a certain amount of time,” Revi replied.
“Both parties need to be naked and press against one another. The most common tactic is for the Janari to lie on top of whoever's DNA they are acquiring,” Aphrodite stated.
“You are awfully knowledgeable on this topic,” Stacey stated in a suspicious tone.
Aphrodite shrugged before saying, “There are several Janari employed by Universal Pleasure. The whole experience of having your DNA extracted is incredibly pleasurable, especially when combined with sexual intercourse.”
“I thought you said you didn’t have any children. How can you know how it feels if you have never been through it?” Stacey asked accusingly.
“Do you really think the Janari only use that technique when they want to get pregnant?” Aphrodite asked while rolling her eyes. “If that was the case, Universal Pleasure would be more of a day care than a pleasure resort.”
“She’s got you three, granddaughter,” Rowena said with a chuckle.
“It’s not like I knew that, I’ve never met a Janari,” Stacey pouted.
Rowena smiled at her granddaughter before asking, “I wonder what’s so special about this nebula in the Piares Galaxy that they would be heading there.”
“Why do you think they gave up their pursuit of the Imperial Down?” Emma asked.
“Most likely because they are not yet ready to fully reveal themselves,” Revi replied.
“But the Imperial Down and all of Adams stream has seen them,” Emma replied before adding, “Shouldn’t they want to get rid of that evidence then?”
“First of all, it’s unlikely they know that they even appeared live on stream, considering how restrictive Adam’s streams are,” Revi replied before continuing. Then there is the fact that they choose to knock them out of subspace and attack them in the Kemel Galaxy, where very few people travel.
Everything so far points to the fact that this organisation wants to stay out of the limelight, at least for now. Pursuing the Imperial Down into galaxies that have more traffic means a greater risk of them being discovered.
If I had to guess, I would say they choose to give up recovering whatever footage and information the Imperial Down has on them, which in the end is only one ship, over them being spotted and intercepted by multiple ships.”
“Let’s also not forget that Spector was there and it jumped into subspace as soon as the solarbomb was detected, making it almost impossible for them to pursue us,” Rowena stated.
“Speaking of the solar bomb,” Stacey suddenly said before looking at Adam and asking. "Care to explain how and why Spector is equipped with them?”
“How do you know about that?” Adam asked in surprise.
“You mentioned them before you collapsed due to the temporal displacement syndrome,” Stacey replied.
“Did I? I don't remember,” Adam replied.
“Not surprising, you were delirious at the time,” Rowena stated.
“I see,” Adam replied before asking, “Why shouldn’t Spector be equipped with solar bombs?”
“You saw for yourself why,” Revi replied before adding, “Normally, only the leader or leaders of a race or galaxy can authorise the deployment of solar-level destruction weapons and even then they have to explain the reason they authorised the use of them to the universal senate.
If it becomes common knowledge that you have them, then the universal senate would be forced to get involved.”
“I see,” Adam replied before thinking, {I probably shouldn’t mention what else Spector has.}
[[I concur.]] Spector replied to Adam alone.
“So why is it equipped with them?” Stacey asked again.
“Why is Spector equipped with anything it has?” Adam asked in return before adding, “If you want to know, you will have to ask Spector, but don’t get your hopes up.”
“You mean you don’t know?” Elemece asked in surprise.
“There’s a lot about Spector I don’t know. I didn’t create it and only found it after all… or maybe I should say it found me,” Adam replied.
“So the fact that you have one of the most destructive weapons at your fingertips doesn’t concern you?” Aphrodite asked curiously.
“It’s not like I plan to use them,” Adam replied.
“But that doesn’t mean you wont use them in the future,” Rowena replied.
Adam thought for a moment before giving a simple shrug in response that caused the more experienced women in the room to sigh.
“Just remember that the use of a solar-level destruction weapon will bring with it consequences,” Revi eventually said.
“I’ll keep that in mind,” Adam replied.
“Do you think this organisation has a base in the nebula the Revenge is heading towards?” Elemece asked.
“Most likely, certain types of nebulae can affect and hinder ship sensors after all,” Rowena remarked.
“Maybe we should rob this base then,” Tephe suggested eagerly, causing Revi to sigh and say.
“I give up.”
“What’s the likelihood the Revenge will dock with this base, if there is such a thing?” Adam asked.
“You're thinking that if it docks, Spector's virus could infiltrate the base, right?” Stacey asked, to which Adam nodded.
“Highly unlikely, considering the size of a capital-class ship,” Aphrodite replied before adding, “It’s more likely they would use shuttles to transfer any personnel or supplies.”
“What about maintenance then?” Emma asked before adding, “Surely there are spacedocks or something for capital-class ships that need repairs.”
“Of course, but they themselves need to be huge in order to accommodate capital-class ships,” Revi replied before adding, “Also, the amount of materials and resources needed to construct a capital-class ship is immense.”
“Considering they only brought one capital-class ship to the battle, I’m hopeful that this organisation doesn’t have many available,” Elemence remarked.
“I can’t see them being able to get the resources to mass-produce them, though I was shocked at how many ships they already possessed,” Rowena stated.
“It just goes to show that this organisation has been around for a long time, yet no one knew about them,” Aphrodite replied.
“Except Astarte, you mean,” Rowena replied before adding, “She seems to know more about them than she was willing to reveal.”
“Information is power,” Aphrodite replied while shrugging.
“How long do you think she’s known about them?” Adam asked.
“I think only she can answer that,” Rowena answered before adding, “Though I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s done business with them.”
“Do we really want to work with someone who works with our enemies?” Adam asked.
Aphrodite opened her mouth to reply, but was surprised when Emma beat her to it and said, “It’s business, Adam. Sometimes in business, you are forced to work with your enemies even if you don’t want to.
Astarte, from what I understand, is just a middleman of sorts; she buys and sells information and is neutral to all parties. Also, she has never done anything to our group, as far as I’m aware.”
“I couldn’t have said it better myself,” Aphrodite said as she smiled at Emma before asking, “So what do you plan to do about the Revenge?”
“There isn’t much I can do since I still can’t risk using the experimental drive and Spector Unit Six is on the Imperial Down,” Adam replied before adding, “For now, I think our best bet is to wait for Spector’s virus to access the Revenge’s sensors and let it tell us what’s in the nebula.”
“This virus is so broken, you're actually going to use the Revenge to spy on their allies for you without them knowing,” Revi said with a sigh before Elemence asked.
“Can we get a copy?”
